Jonjo ‘JJ’ Stickland began his career as a sailing instructor before moving into international yacht racing, all while pursuing diving as a hobby.

A pivotal moment came in 2007 when he worked on his first film, managing a classic yacht for the production of Mamma Mia. The experience set the course for his career, and since then, he has contributed to hundreds of films and productions, specialising in all aspects of Marine Coordination and safety.

Recognising that the right team is essential to a project’s success, Jonjo founded Marine Department in 2017 as a collaborative company of expert professionals. Our team brings a diverse range of skills and backgrounds, from special forces personnel and big wave surfers to global yacht racers and offshore divers. Ensuring we always have the right expertise for the job.
